Jesus’ Life and Death in the Old and New Testaments

Jesus is the most talked about person in the history of the world. Why is that? Why so much controversy? Many people love Him, and many people hate Him? Why? When He came to this world, he showed nothing but love and kindness. Why do people doubt Him? He has been written about not only in the Bible, but in historical writings as well. It is hard to dispute He existed, though many do. Many doubt that He is who He says He is. But He was written about throughout the Old Testament and many prophesies pointed to Him.

Jesus’ Sacrifice and Glory in Isaiah

Long before Jesus came to this earth, there were prophesies throughout the Old Testament of His coming.  Many did not understand and many opposed Him.  But many believed and were redeemed through Him.  As we mentioned in the previous post, God had a plan for us through Christ.  And Jesus fulfilled scripture.  Isaiah 53 is just one example. It is Finished

The work is done.  All is accomplished.  The sacrifice was made.  The penalty was paid.  We have been reconciled and redeemed.  All is forgiven.  The purpose of Jesus’ ministry and the cross comes down to this moment.  It is finished.  No longer are we separated from God.  No longer is there a need for sacrifice.  Our sins are wiped away.  Nothing we can do can earn that.  Jesus Christ did it all for you and me.  He gave us grace and mercy.  He gave us the faith.  We just need to believe and trust in Him. Guilt and Forgiveness

In some ways guilt and forgiveness go hand in hand, but in other ways they are completely opposite.  Without guilt there is no need for forgiveness.  Forgiveness is more about the forgiver showing mercy.  We can all receive forgiveness if we just believe and trust in Jesus Christ…and we all need it.  In my last post, we talked about how we should forgive, knowing that we have been forgiven too.  Jesus not only took our sins away, but He also took away our guilt.  Knowing this, we should e able to not only forgive others, but also forgive ourselves. Jesus fulfills Old Testament Prophecy

Today I would like to take another detour, though Jesus is a promise of God.  With Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday coming up, I wanted to share a little of who Jesus is, why He did what He did, and that God had prophesied these things hundreds of years earlier.  This is just one of many in the scriptures, but there is a lot  in this scripture from Isaiah of the coming Messiah, Jesus Christ, Son of God, God Incarnate, our Lord, our Savior.  I broke this scripture from Isaiah up with New testament scriptures that pertain to the prophesy and its fulfillment.
