In the previous post, we discussed God’s criticism to the people of Israel and how it relates to our attitude and obedience to God today. Malachi also talks about the hope that is to come. God has a plan. The New Testament is about God’s salvation plan, not only for the Jews but also for Gentiles. His love for us is so deep that He wants all people to be saved. His plan was to send Jesus, His one and only son, God in the flesh, to come to this earth as a sinless man and take all of our sins to the cross and die for us, to be the sacrifice for each of us, for all of our sins, once for all.

Events of Jesus’ Resurrection
Jesus’ ministry did not stop at the cross. In many ways it had just begun. Christ said, “It is finished.” Dying on the cross accomplished God’s goal. But part of the victory is conquering death so that we may be raised into eternal life. Without the resurrection, He was just another prophet. But Jesus is more than that; He is our God, our Savior, our Lord. He also had to prepare His disciples for their ministry. And He revealed Himself to many. You Will Be With Me in Paradise
It is not too late to be forgiven. The thief on the cross asked Jesus for forgiveness hours before his death and He granted it. He realized his sin, confessed it before God, and repented. He knew there was nothing he could do to earn it. Only by trusting in Jesus. And that is what he did. Jesus offers everyone a chance. We are all like these thieves. We are all guilty. The question is which thief do you want to be?
Forgive Them
Jesus’ words on the cross were profound. I believe each of the seven phrases he spoke while on the cross had a specific purpose. This whole event had purpose. To take our sins away and declare us righteous before God. For God’s glory. For our salvation. To do this, Jesus took our sins to the cross and paid for them, being forsaken (see previous post) and betrayed and mocked. He endured all of this for us so that we may be forgiven. Guilt and Forgiveness
In some ways guilt and forgiveness go hand in hand, but in other ways they are completely opposite. Without guilt there is no need for forgiveness. Forgiveness is more about the forgiver showing mercy. We can all receive forgiveness if we just believe and trust in Jesus Christ…and we all need it. In my last post, we talked about how we should forgive, knowing that we have been forgiven too. Jesus not only took our sins away, but He also took away our guilt.
