God Keeps His Promises

In continuing with the names of God, I want to point out that as you watch videos or podcasts, or read articles about God and Christianity, to always do it with discernment. Don’t just take their word for it. Don’t just take my word for it. But read the scriptures. Is what a person is teaching backed up by scripture? Not just a verse here and there, but the whole content.

As I was looking for another “name of God” to write about, I came across “El Berith,” or God of the covenant. That does fit the character of our God, but the only place in the Bible the term is used is Judges 9:46, where the men of Shechem were hiding from King Abimelech. It was the temple of Baal-Berith, a false god that the Israelites worshipped after the death of Gideon (See Judges 9:4). These men and Abimelech conspired to kill seventy men of Abimelech’s half-brothers so that Abimelech could be king of Shechem. The full story is found in Judges 8:29-9:57.

But here, we will talk about the real God of the Covenant, who always keeps His promises and covenants.

God Our Righteousness

God is good. He is righteous. Bible talks about His righteousness and how our aim should be more like him. To be righteous in His sight. But, we all fall short. He does not. However, Jesus made that sacrifice on the cross so that we can be declared righteous. Thank God for that. This is why He was called Yahweh Tsidkenu or a variation of this in Hebrew, which is “God Our Righteousness.”

Everlasting God, El Olam

What do we know about our God? He is eternal. He is the Everlasting God. Hebrew scripture calls Him El Olam, or a form of this. He is the Creator of the universe and everything in it He has existed since the beginning of time and will always exist. He is “the One who is, and who was, and who is to come.” He was not created by man, but created man and woman. He is the all-powerful, all knowing, self-existent God. He is indescribable and beyond our imagination No one is like our God.

Knowing We are Saved and the Assurances and Promises God Gave Us

God gives us grace. God gives us mercy. The Bible says that He wills that no one would perish but all come to repentance. But He gives us a choice. And with that choice, He gives us assurance. He has promised believers many things and He always keeps His promise. He promises us that all who believe in His Son will have eternal life. He assures us of that. He says He will never leave us or forsake us, and nothing can separate us from His love.

How We Know That We Are Saved – How and Why It Happens

Ever have doubts about your salvation? Are you really saved? I think we’ve all gone through that at one time or another. But God gives us assurances. The Bible, particularly, tells us how we can know, without a doubt, that we are His children.
