What do we call God? Because of His endless character and because He is so indescribable, He has several names. Each name describes an attribute of God. But God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son, were there through creation, and will always be. God is eternal. God is three persons, but one God. A hard concept but they each work together as one triune God. That is for another post (see The Trinity: God in 3 Persons and the posts that go along with that). Daniel calls God “The Ancient of Days.” In Revelation. Jesus reveals Himself in Revelation as The Alpha and Omega. He is the Beginning and the End, the First and The Last. He is the One who was and is and is to come.
Daniel 7:9-10
“I watched till thrones were put in place, and the Ancient of Days was seated; His garment was white as snow, and the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was a fiery flame, its wheels a burning fire; a fiery stream issued and came forth from before Him. A thousand thousands ministered to Him; ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. The court was seated, and the books were opened.
God sent His angel to Daniel and brought Him to the throne room of heaven. Can you imagine what that would be like? To be in heaven in the presence of God and all His angels and to meet Jesus? Those of us who are followers of Christ will get that opportunity someday. How exciting that will be! One day Jesus will return and bring us all home. He promises that for all who believe in Him.
Daniel 7:13-14
“I was watching in the night visions, and behold, One like the Son of Man, coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought Him near before Him. Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom the one which shall not be destroyed.
Jesus is the Son of Man, the Son of God. The Father sent His Son to die for our sins so that we may live. And we will be with Him for eternity. Jesus will return in all His glory, and we will be given glorified bodies to be in the presence of Almighty God, Our Father, the Ancient of Days. And His Son, Jesus Christ, will be at His right Hand.
Revelation 1:7-18
Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen. “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
I, John, both your brother and companion in the tribulation and kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was on the island that is called Patmos for the word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet, saying, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last,” and, “What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia: to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamos, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.”
Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters; He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength. And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.
Our Heavenly Father, The Ancient of Days, has always existed and always will. He is the Everlasting God, El-Olam. Jesus, the Son of God, Our Savior and Redeemer, came to this earth to pay for our sins through His death on the cross. He is Emmanuel, God with us. John revealed this to us at the beginning of His gospel.
John 1:1-3, 10-11, 14
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made… He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him…And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
Jesus was there with the Father creating the universe. That is why in Genesis when God created man, He says, “Let US create man in OUR image.” Jesus is eternal. He always was and always will be.

Jesus is eternal. He always was and always will be. He became a man on this earth. He gave up His glorified body, He sacrificed His life, He took on the sins of the world for us. Now He reigns in heaven and site at the right Hand of the Father on His throne. One day He will return and take us home. He will return to judge this earth. He will return to reward those who are faithful.
Revelation 22:12-17
“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie. “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.” And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.
My Daily Scriptures
