Who is Your King?

Many people follow a king or leader of some sort (whether they like it or not). But there is one King [Melekh] who all the kings and leaders of this earth will answer to. And we know that our King is a righteous and just King, who is also merciful and patient. And one day all of us will stand before His throne. Now is the time to ask yourself, “who is your king?” May it be Jesus Christ, The King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords, who the Father sent to this earth to be a sacrifice for all. How many kings would sacrifice Himself for his people? Christ did. And He sits at the right hand of the Father; and one day He will return to rule this earth, and His dominion will not end.

Revelation 1:4-6

John, to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

One day, Jesus Christ will return and will rule all who is on this earth. Philippians 2 says that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. He is the only One we look to, the only way to God the Father. The leaders of this world will fail, but Jesus Christ is perfect, sinless. He is the Righteous One. He is the King of Kings and Lord of lords.

1 Timothy 6:11-16

But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing, which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen.

Revelation 19:11-16

Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

John was a witness to the Son of God as Jesus ministered on this earth. He saw him heal the sick, give sight to the blind and raise the dead. He saw many be forgiven and follow Him. He saw Him in His glory and be transfigure on the mountain before him, and He heard the voice of God the Father, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!”  (Matthew 17:2 and Mark 9:2). He saw Jesus in heaven sitting at the right hand of God the Father in his vision when He wrote the Revelation of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the One true King. He is the Word, the Word of God, the Truth.

John 1:1-5, 14-18

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.’ “And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.

All glory should go to our God. God the Father and God the Son at different times were referred to as King [Melech] in the Bible. The Father sent His only Son to die to redeem us from our sins. God the Son was willing to sacrifice Himself and give His life so that we may live. Now He sits on the throne in heaven on the right hand of the Father. His name is above every name, and His dominion will reign forever. There will be a day when He returns and will make all things right and He will reign on this earth and righteousness will prevail.

Daniel 7:13-14

“I was watching in the night visions, and behold, One like the Son of Man, coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought Him near before Him. Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom the one which shall not be destroyed.

The Old Testament pointed forward to Jesus Christ. The New Testament points us to Christ. He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He is My King. He is Our King. He was shone to Daniel in his visions from God. Jesus told the Pharisees He would one day come on the clouds of heaven to rule on earth. Stephen saw Him coming that way before he was stoned to death for his faith. All of us will stand before Him one day. What a great day that will be for those of us who believe and trust in Him.

Acts 7:55-60

But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, and said, “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!” Then they cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and ran at him with one accord; and they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul. And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not charge them with this sin.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

Stephen was filled with the Holy Spirit. How else would he be forgiving and follow Jesus’ example? How can people not see God’s greatness? Everything we look at was created by Him. All good gifts come from Him (James 1:17). One day every knee will bow before Him. One day everyone will see the great and mighty power of our God. Even Nebuchadnezzar, the king of one of the greatest empires in the world, after he was humbled by God, proclaimed the greatness of God and declared that God’s kingdom was eternal.

Daniel 4:1-3

Nebuchadnezzar the king, to all peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you. I thought it good to declare the signs and wonders that the Most High God has worked for me. How great are His signs, and how mighty His wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and His dominion is from generation to generation.

God is the King of Kings. He is far greater than any king or leader ever to walk this earth. God created the earth and all things belong to Him and He rules over all things.

Psalms 95:1-7a

Oh come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the LORD is the great God, and the great King above all gods. In His hand are the deep places of the earth; the heights of the hills are His also. The sea is His, for He made it; and His hands formed the dry land. Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand.

We should praise God (there is no other) for all the works He has done; for all the beauty that He has created; for His love and His sacrifice to redeem us from our sinful lives; to give us new life, everlasting life through Jesus, God the Son, who is the only way to salvation. Our God is our King. We should honor Him. Do not let anyone tell you there is any other way to salvation or tell you to stop praising Him and sharing His truth. There is much deceit in this world and many will tell you that God’s ways are wrong and their ways are best as He said would happen in the last days. Here we are. But one thing never changes. God is supreme and His truth is the only truth. Who is your King? My King is God Almighty, our Heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ our Lord. Let us live through and be filled with His Holy Spirit. Amen.
