God’s Plan Through Jesus and the Cross

We have been discussing Jesus’ words on the cross.  God had a plan all along.  Jesus proclaimed that He accomplished it.  God spoke through Isaiah nearly 800 years earlier about this time.  Daniel mentions the coming of the Messiah over 400 years earlier and gives a specific date.  God’s message gave hope, and that hope was through Jesus Christ. It is Finished

 

The work is done.  All is accomplished.  The sacrifice was made.  The penalty was paid.  We have been reconciled and redeemed.  All is forgiven.  The purpose of Jesus’ ministry and the cross comes down to this moment.  It is finished.  No longer are we separated from God.  No longer is there a need for sacrifice.  Our sins are wiped away.  Nothing we can do can earn that.  Jesus Christ did it all for you and me.  He gave us grace and mercy.  He gave us the faith.  We just need to believe and trust in Him. Redemption by Propitiation

How did Christ redeem us?  What does it mean that Jesus is our propitiation?  More of those big words (as we discussed in the last few posts) that is so important to the gospel.  Because of our sin, because of God’s righteousness and justice, the penalty needs to be paid, a sacrifice.  God the Father provided that through His Son, Jesus Christ.  Jesus is “a propitiation by His blood” We are redeemed through Him.  So what exactly do these words mean? I AM’s…The Way, the Truth, the Life

There was a sermon a couple weeks ago about how Christianity is exclusive…yet very inclusive.  Jesus Christ offers salvation to ALL who believe.  If you trust in Jesus Christ, you will be saved.  No exceptions.  But it is ONLY through Jesus Christ.  There is no other way to heaven.  No other way to the Father.  Jesus is the only way.  Through Him we have eternal life.  That is the truth.
