Joel: The Day of the Lord

What is the Day of the Lord? What will happened in the End Times? What do we do in the meantime? Joel and other prophets received prophesies from God about the future. Many of these prophesies have already happened. Many are yet to come. The purpose is more than just showing us the future. It’s to prepare us for it, lead us to God, to change people’s hearts and bring them to salvation.

Minor Prophets: Hosea

God is always reaching out to His people to come to Him

I always wondered why they call the prophets at the end of the Old Testament “minor prophets.”  Maybe just because the book is smaller.They seem to be less known so let’s try to get know know them a little bit.  Hosea’s ministry was at a time when Israel was divided; Israel (The Northern Kingdom) and Judah to the south were two separate entities.  During Hosea’s time, both were living in relative prosperity but have turned away from God and toward idols and their own evil desires.  They trusted in themselves and others more than God.  Sound familiar? Events of Jesus’ Resurrection

Jesus’ ministry did not stop at the cross.  In many ways it had just begun.  Christ said, “It is finished.”  Dying on the cross accomplished God’s goal.  But part of the victory is conquering death so that we may be raised into eternal life.  Without the resurrection, He was just another prophet.  But Jesus is more than that; He is our God, our Savior, our Lord.  He also had to prepare His disciples for their ministry.  And He revealed Himself to many.  One day He will return and reveal Himself to all.
