Watching for the Day

Are you watching?  Do you know what to watch for? What are we looking for?  Why should we watch?  There will be a day when God will judge the earth.  Sounds scary, doesn’t it?  There will be seven years of tribulation that will be really bad here on earth.  Not the most encouraging news we could hear.  But, there will also be a day when God makes all things new.  When Jesus returns and takes us home.  When there will be no more tears, or sorrow or pain, no more disease or death.  No more evil.  For those of us who trust in Jesus and are children of God, it will be a glorious, wonderful occasion when we will be in His presence.  That is why we watch.  With anticipation.  Not with fear, but excitement! The Good and Bad of Fire

Fire will burn you, but it also provides so much to improve our daily lives.  It gives us light.  It gives us heat.  We cook with it.  We use it to purify metals and to shape them into tools and so much more.  As we discussed in the previous post, God often reveals Himself through fire.  Here we will discuss how fire is used for judgement, but it is also used to purify us, to help us to grow.  It is also used to represent the evil schemes of the devil, but we know that fire will await him in the end. God’s Promise: All Things Will Be New

Jesus tells us that He will return.  When He does, He will make all things new.  One day He will take us home and we who follow Him will be in heaven for all eternity.  What is here now will be gone.  What is to come will be so much better for those who accept Christ’s gift of eternal salvation.  He died for us so that we can be part of His kingdom forever.  His desire is that all would turn to Him.  Please don’t wait until it is too late. Be Ready: Live for Jesus’ Return

In the previous post, we talked about using what God has given us to further His kingdom.  When Christ returns, how will we answer the question, “what have you done with the talents I gave you?”  Another question we might ask ourselves is, “how are we living to prepare for Jesus’ return?”  Will He say to us, “Well done, good and faithful servant?”  Will there be other people in heaven because of us or other believers who have become more mature because of the work God has done through us?  Did we follow His will and fulfill the ministries He gave us?  Of course the most important question, is, “Do you know Jesus and is He Lord of your Life?”  Does He know you?  So, let’s talk about what the Bible says we should do in our lives to prepare for The Day of the Lord.  It is going to be a great day for those of us who are in Christ, but terrible for those who have rejected Him.  Thanks be to God for His grace!  I pray that you have accepted that grace or will accept it. Watch and Be Ready

In my last post, we discussed the Day of the Lord and what it is.  Jesus will return one day.  No one knows when, but when He comes, He will come quickly.  Many will not be prepared.  We need to watch for it with anticipation and be ready for His coming.  Many want to be prepared for the tribulation by storing food and other survival essentials, but I want to focus on being spiritually prepared for Christ Himself.  The Bible talks about the church, the body of believers, is the bride of Christ.  Are we pure and clean and ready for the groom to come and take us in?  The wedding feast is prepared.  He invites us to the feast.  He is coming for His bride on that glorious day.
