The work is done. All is accomplished. The sacrifice was made. The penalty was paid. We have been reconciled and redeemed. All is forgiven. The purpose of Jesus’ ministry and the cross comes down to this moment. It is finished. No longer are we separated from God. No longer is there a need for sacrifice. Our sins are wiped away. Nothing we can do can earn that. Jesus Christ did it all for you and me. He gave us grace and mercy. He gave us the faith. We just need to believe and trust in Him.
John 19:30
So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
As Jesus proclaims His job is done, He proclaims victory for us. We are freed from the sin that ensnares us. Free from God’s wrath.
Hebrews 12:1-2
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Jesus came to this earth to offer Himself to pay for our sins. He came to set us free. He came to give us eternal life and to reconcile us to God.
Romans 5:8-11
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.
Ephesians 1:7
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace
This post is short but the message is important. Christ died for you and me. He paid for our sins by His blood. That was His purpose to come to this earth and it was accomplished. When we accept Him as our Lord and our Savior, He gives us grace; our sins are no more and we will be with Him for eternity. By His grace we are saved. He is the Way…the only way. Thank you Jesus!
