God gives us grace. God gives us mercy. The Bible says that He wills that no one would perish but all come to repentance. But He gives us a choice. And with that choice, He gives us assurance. He has promised believers many things and He always keeps His promise. He promises us that all who believe in His Son will have eternal life. He assures us of that. He says He will never leave us or forsake us, and nothing can separate us from His love.

In the previous post, we discussed God’s criticism to the people of Israel and how it relates to our attitude and obedience to God today. Malachi also talks about the hope that is to come. God has a plan. The New Testament is about God’s salvation plan, not only for the Jews but also for Gentiles. His love for us is so deep that He wants all people to be saved. His plan was to send Jesus, His one and only son, God in the flesh, to come to this earth as a sinless man and take all of our sins to the cross and die for us, to be the sacrifice for each of us, for all of our sins, once for all.

Jesus’ ministry did not stop at the cross. In many ways it had just begun. Christ said, “It is finished.” Dying on the cross accomplished God’s goal. But part of the victory is conquering death so that we may be raised into eternal life. Without the resurrection, He was just another prophet. But Jesus is more than that; He is our God, our Savior, our Lord. He also had to prepare His disciples for their ministry. And He revealed Himself to many. You Will Be With Me in Paradise
It is not too late to be forgiven. The thief on the cross asked Jesus for forgiveness hours before his death and He granted it. He realized his sin, confessed it before God, and repented. He knew there was nothing he could do to earn it. Only by trusting in Jesus. And that is what he did. Jesus offers everyone a chance. We are all like these thieves. We are all guilty. The question is which thief do you want to be?
