No Need to Fear

Jesus clouds
The Lord is my Light

Psalm 27:1

The LORD is my light and my salvation;

Whom shall I fear?

The LORD is the strength of my life;

Of whom shall I be afraid?

With all the talk of violence and mass shootings and gun laws and the direction our country and this world is heading, one thing we can be sure of is that God is in control and there is no need to fear.  Many would ask, then why does God allow these things to happen?  I do not know the answer, but we live in a fallen world.  We are not God’s puppets, and there are evil people in this world and Satan is allowed to roam this earth…for now.  But I believe his time is short.  It appears we are living Matthew 24.  But, those of us who believe in Jesus Christ, who follow Him, have nothing to fear.  God assures us of this and there are better things to come.  No matter what we are going through, God is with us and He will guide us and He will give us all that we need.  No matter what happens to us on this earth, we have so much to look forward to.  There is no need to fear. Apart from the World

How does God want us to live?  Number 4 in our “We are saved…now what?” series.  When we are saved, we are now apart from the world.  We are a new creation, we have been set free, God has a plan for us, let us be an example, a testimony to those around us.

  • Do not love the world.  Overcome the temptations of this world and your flesh.

The 3 sins of this World

What are ways we can live that reflect we are a child of God? How are we to live our lives? We have talked about “carrying your cross daily” and reading 1 John to know if we are truly saved.  This is one thing 1 John says:

1 John 2:15-17

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world — the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life — is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

John uses the sins that Adam and Eve were seduced by causing The Fall, separating them from God and cursing all of us.  Thanks God He sent His one and only Son to take our sins upon His shoulders and nail them to the cross to redeem us from our sins.  How blessed we are to have a loving God and savior to do that for us. Which Soil are You?

How did you react to the gospel when you first heard it?  How do you react when the Lord speaks to you?  Do you follow godly advice?  Do you ever feel convicted?  Do you trust the Lord with all your heart?  Today I want to share the parable of the sower that Jesus told and how it relates to our lives.  Which soil are you? Thyatira, the Corrupt Church

angel-427694_1280The next church in Revelation is Thyatira, a church that does a lot of good works and shows love to others. But Jesus also has harsh words for it, because the people allow themselves to be swayed by false teachings and give in to their flesh, their sexual desires. By His words it sounds like the church as a whole and the leadership allowed this and did not dissuade those living in sin. The other thing is that He addresses idols again as in the previous church in Pergamos Let us not allow the world around us to influence those of us who are of the faith. Satan has many ways to influence us and let us be strong and use the weapons that God gives us (see Ephesians 6). 1Corinthians 15:33 says, “evil company corrupts good habits.” and 2 Thessalonians 3 tells us to not keep company with a believer who is living in disobedience. Let us be completely obedient to God and be accountable to each other. Let us not be a stumbling block to others.

Rev 2:18-29

“And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write,

‘These things says the Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and His feet like fine brass: “I know your works, love, service, faith, and your patience; and as for your works, the last are more than the first. Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent. Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds. I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works.

“Now to you I say, and* to the rest in Thyatira, as many as do not have this doctrine, who have not known the depths of Satan, as they say, I will put on you no other burden. But hold fast what you have till I come. And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations —

‘He shall rule them with a rod of iron;

They shall be dashed to pieces like the potter’s vessels’

as I also have received from My Father; and I will give him the morning star.

“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”‘

May God richly bless you and that you will live in a way that reflects Jesus’ love.
