Psalm 27:1
The LORD is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?
With all the talk of violence and mass shootings and gun laws and the direction our country and this world is heading, one thing we can be sure of is that God is in control and there is no need to fear. Many would ask, then why does God allow these things to happen? I do not know the answer, but we live in a fallen world. We are not God’s puppets, and there are evil people in this world and Satan is allowed to roam this earth…for now. But I believe his time is short. It appears we are living Matthew 24. But, those of us who believe in Jesus Christ, who follow Him, have nothing to fear. God assures us of this and there are better things to come. No matter what we are going through, God is with us and He will guide us and He will give us all that we need. No matter what happens to us on this earth, we have so much to look forward to. There is no need to fear.
Romans 8:15-19
For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs — heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Romans 8:31-39
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written:
“For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
No matter what happens, no one can take away our joy. They cannot take away the hope that we have in Jesus Christ. They cannot take away the love that God has for us. We shall forever be with Him.
1 John 4:18-19
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
God loves us and we are important to Him. We are His children. Our home is in heaven with Him.
Luke 12:4-8
“And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him!
“Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.”
God gives us what we need. No matter what our circumstances, we can always have joy in the Lord. Our hope is in Him. When we struggle turn to Him. He will answer your prayer. Have faith. The trials we go through now will make us stronger in the end and it is to His glory. Just trust in Him. Do not fear. Look forward to the glory that is to come. Be grateful for what the Lord has given you.
Hebrews 13:5-6
Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say:
“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear.
What can man do to me?”
I can always count on the Lord. He loves and forgives.He gives me strength, He guides me, He provides all my needs, He gives me hope. He is always there for me and I have no need to fear.
Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.
