Grace Abuse

Previously we talked about God’s grace and the promise that through God’s grace we are saved by faith not by the things we do.  It is what Christ did for us, taking our sins and paying for them by nailing them to the cross.  So does that mean if we accept God’s grace and trust in Jesus that we could do whatever we want?  I would say yes and no.  Yes, we are free.  But, we are free from sin and if you have truly accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior, you are changed.  You are a new creation.  Your old self has died and you now live for Him.  Your desire should be aligned with God.  You no longer want to do the sinful acts of your previous self.  The Holy Spirit will live in you and will guide you.  Now you can live by the Spirit and not by your flesh.  If you do not see these changes, if your desires remain the same, you have to question the sincerity of your acceptance of God’s grace.  You need to be reconciled to Him.  It does not mean that you will never sin or your flesh will never creep in and tempt you.  It will.  There will be a battle.  But remember that you are victorious because of the blood of Christ. No Need to Fear

Jesus clouds
The Lord is my Light

Psalm 27:1

The LORD is my light and my salvation;

Whom shall I fear?

The LORD is the strength of my life;

Of whom shall I be afraid?

With all the talk of violence and mass shootings and gun laws and the direction our country and this world is heading, one thing we can be sure of is that God is in control and there is no need to fear.  Many would ask, then why does God allow these things to happen?  I do not know the answer, but we live in a fallen world.  We are not God’s puppets, and there are evil people in this world and Satan is allowed to roam this earth…for now.  But I believe his time is short.  It appears we are living Matthew 24.  But, those of us who believe in Jesus Christ, who follow Him, have nothing to fear.  God assures us of this and there are better things to come.  No matter what we are going through, God is with us and He will guide us and He will give us all that we need.  No matter what happens to us on this earth, we have so much to look forward to.  There is no need to fear. What to do to Grow in the Spirit

In my our previous post, we discussed how God helps us to mature as a believer.  Today we will look at what the scripture says what our part is.  We don’t just sit back and watch God work.  He wants us to do something.  As a believer the Spirit indwells in us and guides us to live in a way that honors God and in so doing, our faith will grow and so will our character.  In our daily lives as well as the ministry God has called each of us to do, we need to be like Peter and get out of the boat and obey what Jesus commands us to do.  The other twelve sat in the boat and watched while Peter walked on water. How God Helps Us to Grow

sprout-1147803_1280Sanctification is a big word.  But, it basically just means growing in the Spirit to maturity.  We are a work in progress.  This is not about being saved, but about maturing once we are saved.  The Spirit continually works in us throughout our lives.

This will be a two-part series on what the scriptures say how God leads us to sanctification and what we need to do throughout this process.  First, I will talk about what God does.  Without Him, we can do nothing. Continue reading “How God Helps Us to Grow”

Signs of the Times

sign

In my fifth post on the return of Jesus Christ, let us go through some of the signs to look for.  The Bible tells us to watch and be ready, so let’s explore what to watch for.  There are many authors and people with their ideas of today’s world events and how they tie in to the signs talked about in God’s Word.  With the Super Blue Blood Moon occurred this morning, I am sure they will be talking about that.  While this is intriguing, I am going to stick with scripture as far as things to look for.  Jesus’ tells us that it is not for us to know the hour but to watch, but we can know when the time is near and I believe we are now in that time.
