God Our Strength and Shield

God is always there for us. Sometimes we don’t see it, sometimes we don’t get the answers we want. But He is always working in our lives. He is our protector. There is so much evil going on around us. One day He will come and take us home away from it. But, until then, we can trust in Him for He gives us strength (Eyaluth). He protects us. He is the ultimate shield (Magen or suri) that will keep us safe. In scripture He is called “Our Strength and Our Shield.” When God is for us, who can stand against us? (Romans 8:31) The devil will try, but he will lose. He may win a battle or two, but once we trust in Jesus as our Lord and as our Savior, we are declared righteous and declared victorious. No one can snatch us out of His hand (John 10:28).

Adonai Lord

The Lord God, Adonai, is our Lord, our Sovereign King. God is the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings. Adonai is used throughout the Old Testament, as people relate to God, and declare His goodness. It is the name use as people pray to God in earnest need and seek help from our almighty God.

Bless the Lord!

This year has been a rough one for us and we are still feeling the effects from it. But through it all, we know that God is good and He is with us, even when we don’t feel Him. We know that God is working in us. We know because He keeps His promises and we have seen His blessings in our lives and others. So often, when times are hard, we don’t see the promises and blessings at the time, but later on in life we look back and are thankful for all the things He has done. Even when we are going through struggles, we need to be reminded of all His goodness and the blessings we already have. Therefore, let us bless the Lord, be thankful of Him, and praise His name as we see throughout the scriptures.

Wrestling with God

In our discussions about Jesus, the instances referred to Him as “The Angel of the Lord.”  There are also instance that He appears and is described differently.  In some cases, we are not sure it is actually Jesus, or God the Father, or The Holy Spirit, but there are some clues and there is a good indication that it is Jesus.  Regardless, we know it is God and it does point to our Savior, The Messiah, Jesus Christ.  In each case, there is a lesson for us.  One lesson that is common throughout scripture, is to trust in the Lord. No Need to Fear

Jesus clouds
The Lord is my Light

Psalm 27:1

The LORD is my light and my salvation;

Whom shall I fear?

The LORD is the strength of my life;

Of whom shall I be afraid?

With all the talk of violence and mass shootings and gun laws and the direction our country and this world is heading, one thing we can be sure of is that God is in control and there is no need to fear.  Many would ask, then why does God allow these things to happen?  I do not know the answer, but we live in a fallen world.  We are not God’s puppets, and there are evil people in this world and Satan is allowed to roam this earth…for now.  But I believe his time is short.  It appears we are living Matthew 24.  But, those of us who believe in Jesus Christ, who follow Him, have nothing to fear.  God assures us of this and there are better things to come.  No matter what we are going through, God is with us and He will guide us and He will give us all that we need.  No matter what happens to us on this earth, we have so much to look forward to.  There is no need to fear.
