Resurrection Sunday

Today we celebrate the most important day in history: Resurrection Sunday. The day Jesus Christ rose from the dead after dying for your sins and mine, after paying the full penalty of our sins, all of them, for everyone. All we need to do is accept that free gift of grace and mercy, trust in Jesus, and believe that this is true.

Jesus Commends Smyrna

In the second letter to the 7 churches, Jesus commends the church in Smyrna and has nothing against them. This should be the church we would want to be a part of. But, as believers, there is still a cost. Those who follow Jesus are often looked down upon to say the least. Many are persecuted; believers in John’s day as well as many places today are imprisoned, beaten or killed for their faith. But most of the time the church that is persecuted is the strongest. People who are persecuted have the strongest faith and have the most boldness. It is through our struggles and suffering and that we grow as people and as believers. The True Reason for Easter

Easter is a great time to celebrate. Many get together with family, share a meal and perhaps have special treats for the kids. But why do we celebrate? It has nothing to do with bunnies and eggs. It is not about fertility as some religions believe. It is about victory over death and sin. So this day is much bigger than many realize. It is the day that we can declare victory over sin and death because Christ did. All we have to do is believe and trust in Him.

Events of Jesus’ Resurrection

Jesus’ ministry did not stop at the cross.  In many ways it had just begun.  Christ said, “It is finished.”  Dying on the cross accomplished God’s goal.  But part of the victory is conquering death so that we may be raised into eternal life.  Without the resurrection, He was just another prophet.  But Jesus is more than that; He is our God, our Savior, our Lord.  He also had to prepare His disciples for their ministry.  And He revealed Himself to many.  One day He will return and reveal Himself to all. I AM’s…The Resurrection

The next “I AM” begins with the story of Lazarus, one of Jesus’ closest friends.  Lazarus became very sick, but it was time Jesus showed His power and glory and He was going to do more than heal.  (spoiler alert!)  He was going to raise him from the dead!  Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life.
