Are you watching? Do you know what to watch for? What are we looking for? Why should we watch? There will be a day when God will judge the earth. Sounds scary, doesn’t it? There will be seven years of tribulation that will be really bad here on earth. Not the most encouraging news we could hear. But, there will also be a day when God makes all things new. When Jesus returns and takes us home. When there will be no more tears, or sorrow or pain, no more disease or death. No more evil. For those of us who trust in Jesus and are children of God, it will be a glorious, wonderful occasion when we will be in His presence. That is why we watch. With anticipation. Not with fear, but excitement! Continue reading “Watching for the Day”
In the previous post, we talked about using what God has given us to further His kingdom. When Christ returns, how will we answer the question, “what have you done with the talents I gave you?” Another question we might ask ourselves is, “how are we living to prepare for Jesus’ return?” Will He say to us, “Well done, good and faithful servant?” Will there be other people in heaven because of us or other believers who have become more mature because of the work God has done through us? Did we follow His will and fulfill the ministries He gave us? Of course the most important question, is, “Do you know Jesus and is He Lord of your Life?” Does He know you? So, let’s talk about what the Bible says we should do in our lives to prepare for The Day of the Lord. It is going to be a great day for those of us who are in Christ, but terrible for those who have rejected Him. Thanks be to God for His grace! I pray that you have accepted that grace or will accept it. Continue reading “Be Ready: Live for Jesus’ Return”
As we discussed in my last post, God’s word tells us to watch and be ready for the Day of the Lord when Christ returns. We do not know when. We do not know exactly the sequence of events that will take place. Will God’s people be taken up (the rapture)before the Great Tribulation or after? What will happen right before? There is much debate about this and a lot of writings on this. We won’t go into all of that. I will leave that for the experts. But, how are we to be ready? What can we do to prepare? Many believe we need to stock up on food and survival necessities, perhaps even build a bunker. But that is not where we are going today. How do we prepare our heart? What are we doing with the gifts and talents God has given us? How are we living and where is our heart? Are we looking forward to and anticipating Jesus’ return?
Here we will focus on the parable of the talents and that we must use those things God has given us to further His kingdom. Continue reading “Getting Ready: Using Our Talents”
In my last post, we discussed the Day of the Lord and what it is. Jesus will return one day. No one knows when, but when He comes, He will come quickly. Many will not be prepared. We need to watch for it with anticipation and be ready for His coming. Many want to be prepared for the tribulation by storing food and other survival essentials, but I want to focus on being spiritually prepared for Christ Himself. The Bible talks about the church, the body of believers, is the bride of Christ. Are we pure and clean and ready for the groom to come and take us in? The wedding feast is prepared. He invites us to the feast. He is coming for His bride on that glorious day. Continue reading “Watch and Be Ready”
