Marriage and Relationships

 

What does the Bible say about marriage and relationships?  I am no expert (if you want good, expert advice, try Focus on the Family or Family Life Today) and I have many flaws as a husband, but I try to follow what God says how to treat my wife and others.  I often fail, but I try.  I hope this post will encourage you, whether married or single.  God’s Word has much to say about relationships and I would like to share with you a few scriptures to help you be a better husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend or what to look for in one.  Marriage is a wonderful thing, created by God, so use wisdom, show love, be kind and honest, take your time, enjoy it, and always put God first and in the center of your life and your relationship. Shine Your Light

 

Next in our series on what we should do once we are saved is to share that good news with others.  We need to be a testimony for Jesus Christ, live in a way that people know we are children of God and invite others to have that gift that we received.

  • Share what the Lord has done for you to those around you.  This is an act of love, to tell the truth so that others can know God.  Be baptized.  It does not save you, but it is an outward testimony of your faith in Jesus Christ.

Walk in the Spirit

What does it mean to “walk in the Spirit?”  This is the second of a series on what we do once we are saved, how a believer should live.  Let us not forget, though, this is not what saves us.  It is by God’s grace, the sacrifice of Jesus’ blood on the cross making atonement for our sins.  Believing in Him from the heart is what saves us.  As a believer, we want to live in a way that honors Him and a way that we can grow spiritually and be a testimony to others.

  • Walk in the Spirit.  Live in a way that honors Him as the Spirit leads you.

We are God’s Watchmen

In following with the previous post, do we have enough love in us to share the gospel so that others know about the saving grace of Jesus Christ?  Of who He is? Are we worried about what they might think?  If we do not share the gospel with others, what does God think about that?  Sometimes I am ashamed for not having the boldness to be a witness to those around me…family, coworkers, friends, people at the store, etc…etc…  Often my actions are fair, but do others know that I am a child of God?  If not, shame on me! Seek and Desire the Lord

Today’s Daily Scripture is again from Paul’s letter to the Philippian church:

Philippians 3:7-10

But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed in His death

As Psalm 63 says, “O God, You are my God, early I seek You; My soul thirsts for you; My flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. So I have looked for you in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory”

The study I went through today was very convicting. We should have angst and deep desire to long for Jesus Christ. We need to seek God more than anything. In the way a dehydrated, dying man in a desert seeks for water is how we should seek God. Nothing else matters in comparison to what Jesus Christ has done for us and through His death and resurrection. We have Christ in us, if we accept Him as our Lord and our Savior. This is part of what it means to love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind and strength.  In all we do, let us turn to Him first.  In all that we do, let us give Him the glory.
