Lazarus and the Rich Man: Doing What’s Right

Jesus told a story of Lazarus and the Rich Man. Some think this was not just a parable but something that may have actually happened, because no other parable uses someone’s name. Whichever is the case, what Jesus was teaching is what is important. This is a story of a man who had much but did not use it to help others and only cared about His own desires. But when they died, he went to hell, a place of eternal torment, but Lazarus was righteous, and went to heaven. In Part 1 we will discuss doing what’s right and how to treat those in need. Part 2 we will talk about heaven and hell.

Living Water

As we have learned while studying the gospels, Jesus often used parables to convey a truth. He often used stories from daily lives of the people he was speaking to, which was often about farming, earning a living, preparing food, and obtaining water to live. As we continue our series on Jesus’ parables in teachings, we will talk about living water that Jesus provides to all who come to Him.

I Thirst

How often Jesus used the analogy of water to get His point across.  He calmed the sea.  He walked on water.  He turned water into wine.  He offered living water to those who believe by paying for our sins on the cross.  As Jesus was on the cross, He shows His humanness here.  He was thirsty.   He could have used His power in the same way.  But He didn’t.  He chose  to fulfill His purpose on earth by paying for our sins through His blood.  He chose to offer each of us living water.
