In the previous post, we talked about using what God has given us to further His kingdom. When Christ returns, how will we answer the question, “what have you done with the talents I gave you?” Another question we might ask ourselves is, “how are we living to prepare for Jesus’ return?” Will He say to us, “Well done, good and faithful servant?” Will there be other people in heaven because of us or other believers who have become more mature because of the work God has done through us? Did we follow His will and fulfill the ministries He gave us? Of course the most important question, is, “Do you know Jesus and is He Lord of your Life?” Does He know you? So, let’s talk about what the Bible says we should do in our lives to prepare for The Day of the Lord. It is going to be a great day for those of us who are in Christ, but terrible for those who have rejected Him. Thanks be to God for His grace! I pray that you have accepted that grace or will accept it. Continue reading “Be Ready: Live for Jesus’ Return”

Getting Ready: Using Our Talents
As we discussed in my last post, God’s word tells us to watch and be ready for the Day of the Lord when Christ returns. We do not know when. We do not know exactly the sequence of events that will take place. Will God’s people be taken up (the rapture)before the Great Tribulation or after? What will happen right before? There is much debate about this and a lot of writings on this. We won’t go into all of that. I will leave that for the experts. But, how are we to be ready? What can we do to prepare? Many believe we need to stock up on food and survival necessities, perhaps even build a bunker. But that is not where we are going today. How do we prepare our heart? What are we doing with the gifts and talents God has given us? How are we living and where is our heart? Are we looking forward to and anticipating Jesus’ return?
Here we will focus on the parable of the talents and that we must use those things God has given us to further His kingdom. Continue reading “Getting Ready: Using Our Talents”
Marriage and Relationships
What does the Bible say about marriage and relationships? I am no expert (if you want good, expert advice, try Focus on the Family or Family Life Today) and I have many flaws as a husband, but I try to follow what God says how to treat my wife and others. I often fail, but I try. I hope this post will encourage you, whether married or single. God’s Word has much to say about relationships and I would like to share with you a few scriptures to help you be a better husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend or what to look for in one. Marriage is a wonderful thing, created by God, so use wisdom, show love, be kind and honest, take your time, enjoy it, and always put God first and in the center of your life and your relationship. The World, Idols, and Materialism
Three of the things God despises are worldliness, idolatry and materialism and I think these go hand in hand and are almost synonymous. God wants your complete and total commitment to Him. He does not want to share loyalties with anyone or anything else. He should be the one and only God in our life. We should serve Him and Him alone. Jesus is the Light, We are the light
As Christmas approaches, let us remember the true meaning of it. Although family and presents and lights and decorations and songs and laughter are great, let us step back and consider that God sent His Son to us to save us. Let us remember this throughout the year and trust Him in all things. Let us abide In the light of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Continue reading “Jesus is the Light, We are the light”
