Anyone who believes in Christ is a new creation. As one becomes a believer, the Holy Spirit gives him strength as He lives inside Him. Not sure how this works, but I know the Spirit works in us to guide, us, to pray for us, to convict us to do the right thing and change from doing what’s wrong. What a blessing it is to know that we have an inheritance in heaven. Jesus came to this earth to pay for our sins by dying on the cross. He conquered death and was raised from the grave. By His grace we are saved if we believe in Him. We are assured that God always keeps His promises, and He promised eternal life and as adopted sons and daughters (as mentioned in the previous post), we have an inheritance. One of the greatest promises God has given us is adoption to be children of God. For those of us who believe, He has accepted us to be part of His family and heirs of eternal life (more on this next time). He didn’t decide to adopt us because of our love for Him or all the great things that we have done, but because He loved us, because Christ died for us that we may be sons of God. I talked last time about being a sponsor for children and how missionaries go to a strange land and accept children as their own, sharing God’s love. In this series, I hope to remind everyone of God’s promises. It is something I need to remind myself from time to time. God always keeps His promises and what He says is always true. It is something we should always aspire to do. As Jesus said, “let your yes be yes, and your no, no.”
Today, we will discuss God’s unconditional love. He tells us that He will always love us. Our Father demonstrated that by sending His only Son to this earth to die for us. As a follower of Jesus Christ, I am grateful for God’s promises. He always keeps His promises and I am especially thankful that He promised me eternal life. He promised that He will never leave me or forsake me. He promised me that the Holy Spirit indwells in me to guide me, convict me and pray for me. He promised to work in me to grow. He promised me understanding of God’s Word. He promised me that He would answer my prayers and provide my needs. As we read through the Bible, it is full of promises from God. There are many words of encouragement for the believer. We can learn of God’s character and who we are in Christ. We can learn how to live. I hope these scriptures give you encouragement this day and I hope you will be strengthened and inspired to follow Him wherever He leads you and to overcome any doubt or distraction, weakness or temptation that comes to you.
