Peace Through Troubled Times

Anyone besides me having a hard time having peace in these troubled times?  I have been reading scriptures and other articles that we will have peace through Christ and I know it’s true.  But, I still struggle with the anxiety of it all.  Yes, I still do find peace inside, because I know God is there and he has a plan, as frustrating as it is not knowing what that plan is.  I know God loves me and He is by my side even when I don’t feel it.  I know that He is always there for me even through this chaos.  Even though it seems the world has turned upside down with the virus, the empty shelves at the grocery store, the economy crashing, social distancing and all the bad news on TV, we need to continue reading God’s word and remember His promises and to continue in prayer and to trust in Him. Praise Prayers

In our last discussion we talked about how Paul encouraged others in his prayer for them.  He also never ceased to give God praise for all that He has done.  This is something we all should remember in our prayers.  As we talk to God, we should acknowledge how great a God He is, how good He is to us and all the things He has done for us.  There are so many scriptures to choose from that have prayers of praise, particularly from the Psalms, but also many in both the Old and New Testaments.  Many scriptures acknowledge God’s greatness and may not actually be part of a prayer, but I think by reading these and perhaps using some of them in our prayer will honor God.  As the authors do, let us not only acknowledge Him in our prayers but share it with all those around us. Hebrews 12: Encourage to Live by Faith

As I was going through a study in Hebrews, I learned a lot about Jesus, who He is, what He did for us, and how we are to live and think.  Jesus sacrificed Himself for us; His blood was shed so that there is no more need for sacrificial offerings, there is no need to go to anyone but Him (He is the only way) to confess sins or to ask for forgiveness.  That is God’s grace.  We are not under the Law.  We are under grace.  Our salvation is based on accepting His grace, for He paid the price.  Salvation is not about following rules and regulations.  It is about following Jesus Christ.  It is about a personal relationship with Him.  It is about faith in what Christ can do, not about what we try to do to earn favor.  Continue reading “Hebrews 12: Encourage to Live by Faith”

God’s Promises: Comfort and Strength

In our weakness, God gives us strength.  When we struggle, He comforts us.  We will go through hardship; we will have times of weakness.  He doesn’t keep us from those times, He helps us to get through them.  He is always there for us, even when we don’t realize it.  The Spirit will guide us and strengthen us and pray for us. When Jesus Comes…Our Victory

In the final post of our series on Jesus’ Return, we will talk about our victory in Jesus.  This will encourage all believers who know the truth and have a saving relationship with Jesus Christ our Lord.  To Him be the glory!  One day, we will be with Him in heaven, and will inherit eternal life, where there will be no more pain or sadness or death.  He will make all things new and we will claim our victory, which is in the blood of Christ, who gave His life for the redemption of our sins.
