Throne of the Son

In our last discussion we talked about the throne that is in heaven that God the Father sits at. It is not the only throne, however. We also mentioned last time that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who came to this earth and paid the price for our sins as a sacrifice, sits at the right hand of God the Father. Jesus deserves the glory and our worship. He also has another throne in addition to His throne of glory. A throne of judgement. Let us look at each of the thrones of Christ.

To Judge or Not to Judge

Each of us have strong convictions about certain things. Others may have different opinions. When you interact with someone who disagrees, how do you handle it? I was listening to a study on Romans where they talk about disputes within the church. Some of these disputes are based on the gospel and salvation and should be disputed. While other matters are opinions, and we ought to respect other’s convictions and learn to love each other first and not quarrel over things that do not matter. Zephaniah: The Day of the Lord

Several prophets talked about the Day of the Lord. What is it? It is a day of reckoning. It is a day of judgement. In the end, it will be a time of joy for those who trust in the Lord, but a time of sorrow for the unrighteous. Zephaniah talks about a Day of the Lord for Israel and Judah. When God would discipline His chosen people and punish the wicked, especially the leaders who should be guiding God’s people to the Lord, not to foreign false gods and idols. It is something we should take note today. There is one God. Nahum: Warnings to Ninevah

Just about everyone knows the story of Jonah and how God called Him to preach a message to Ninevah. The people were practicing evil deeds, but after God’s message they repented from their ways and God spared them. This time He speaks through Nahum. Again the message is clear that evil reigns in the land and they were being wicked to the people of Israel and Judah. Assyria, of which Ninevah was the capitol, had conquered Israel and treated them harshly. But this time they did not repent. As we now know, the Assyrians fell to the Babylonian empire and Ninevah is no more.

Joel: The Day of the Lord

What is the Day of the Lord? What will happen in the End Times? What do we do in the meantime? Joel and other prophets received prophesies from God about the future. Many of these prophesies have already happened. Many are yet to come. The purpose is more than just showing us the future. It’s to prepare us for it, lead us to God, to change people’s hearts and bring them to salvation.
