What a blessing it is to know that we have an inheritance in heaven. Jesus came to this earth to pay for our sins by dying on the cross. He conquered death and was raised from the grave. By His grace we are saved if we believe in Him. We are assured that God always keeps His promises, and He promised eternal life and as adopted sons and daughters (as mentioned in the previous post), we have an inheritance. God’s Promise: Adoption
One of the greatest promises God has given us is adoption to be children of God. For those of us who believe, He has accepted us to be part of His family and heirs of eternal life (more on this next time). He didn’t decide to adopt us because of our love for Him or all the great things that we have done, but because He loved us, because Christ died for us that we may be sons of God. I talked last time about being a sponsor for children and how missionaries go to a strange land and accept children as their own, sharing God’s love. How much more does God love us and accept us as His children. What an awesome thing! Continue reading “God’s Promise: Adoption”
God’s Promise: Unconditional Love
In this series, I hope to remind everyone of God’s promises. It is something I need to remind myself from time to time. God always keeps His promises and what He says is always true. It is something we should always aspire to do. As Jesus said, “let your yes be yes, and your no, no.”
Today, we will discuss God’s unconditional love. He tells us that He will always love us. Our Father demonstrated that by sending His only Son to this earth to die for us. Jesus gave His life freely so that we may live. There is no greater love than that. Continue reading “God’s Promise: Unconditional Love”
Access to the Father
God gives us more than we can imagine including direct access to Him. God the Father wants His children to talk with Him. He loves us. He sent His Son to die for us so that we can have that access. Jesus took the sins of the world to the cross so that we can be declared righteous to be in the presence of almighty God. In the early days of Israel, only the priests were allowed in the Holy of Holies, in the presence of God, to intercede for the people. But Jesus changed all of that. We no longer need to go through a priest or anyone to speak with God, to ask forgiveness, to be redeemed. Each of us can go directly to Him, not through ritual or a mediator. Christ is that Mediator and all who believe in Him have the Holy Spirit in them to guide, to convict, to intercede and pray for us. Continue reading “Access to the Father”
God Created
Our God is an awesome God…He is the Creator of the universe and everything in it. So why do the schools teach that the universe and everything in it happened by chance? Why are we taught that we evolved from other forms of life? Does science disprove the existence of God? Does science contradict the creation? Some of these questions may never be answered. There are some good books and documentaries about this where the authors lay down the evidence. Check out The Case for a Creator and The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel or Evidence that Demands a Verdict by Josh McDowell for good discussions on these issues. So, what does God’s Word say about how the world began and how man came into being? Why should it matter? To me, knowing who God is gives me all the more reason to worship and praise Him and helps me realize how big a God He is. Continue reading “God Created”
