Happy Belated Birthday, Jesus!

It’s that time of year when we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Regardless of whether this is truly the date when Jesus was born (and in all likelihood it is not), the important thing is that the Son of God came into this world, born to a virgin, and died on the cross for our sins, and any and all who believe, and trust that we are saved by His death and resurrection, are saved and will have eternal life with Him. So, out of curiosity, when was Jesus actually born? Are there clues in the Bible that tells us? And how was December 25th chosen as the day to celebrate His birth?

The Christ Child in the Old and New Testaments

In the last post we discussed Jesus’ life and death as prophesied in the Old Testament and fulfilled in the New Testament. In this post we will look at Jesus’ birth. Let the Children Come to Me

God has high regard for children.  Throughout scripture He speaks of children often, that we are to love them, care for them and even be like them.  He calls those who believe children of God.  He sent His Son as a Child, to become the Savior of the world.

Mark 10:14-16

“Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.  Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.”  And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them. God’s Promises: Our Inheritance

What a blessing it is to know that we have an inheritance in heaven.  Jesus came to this earth to pay for our sins by dying on the cross.  He conquered death and was raised from the grave.  By His grace we are saved if we believe in Him.  We are assured that God always keeps His promises, and He promised eternal life and as adopted sons and daughters (as mentioned in the previous post), we have an inheritance.  Continue reading “God’s Promises: Our Inheritance”
