Access to the Father

God gives us more than we can imagine including direct access to Him.  God the Father wants His children to talk with Him.  He loves us.  He sent His Son to die for us so that we can have that access.  Jesus took the sins of the world to the cross so that we can be declared righteous to be in the presence of almighty God.  In the early days of Israel, only the priests were allowed in the Holy of Holies, in the presence of God, to intercede for the people.  But Jesus changed all of that.  We no longer need to go through a priest or anyone to speak with God, to ask forgiveness, to be redeemed.  Each of us can go directly to Him, not through ritual or a mediator.  Christ is that Mediator and all who believe in Him have the Holy Spirit in them to guide, to convict, to intercede and pray for us. Jesus in Psalm 22

I was going through a study in Hebrews and the teacher described the quote in Hebrews 2 from Psalm 22.  I thought it was interesting how the first half of the Psalm depicts Jesus thoughts on the cross; the second half were His thoughts and the results of the cross after His resurrection.  Our salvation is dependent on both His death and resurrection.  It is through His death our sins are washed away; it is through His resurrection that death and sin are conquered and those of us who trust in the Lord will be forgiven and will live in eternity with Him. Living Water

Today’s scripture is about Jesus’ encounter with the woman at the well. Here, He declares that He is the Messiah.  His words and actions declare it.  He is the Living Water.  Salvation is through Him.  Life is through Him.  We need Him in our hearts. Continue reading “Living Water”

Shine Your Light

Next in our series on what we should do once we are saved is to share that good news with others.  We need to be a testimony for Jesus Christ, live in a way that people know we are children of God and invite others to have that gift that we received.

  • Share what the Lord has done for you to those around you.  This is an act of love, to tell the truth so that others can know God.  Be baptized.  It does not save you, but it is an outward testimony of your faith in Jesus Christ.

Born Again

Born again is kind of an odd term.  What does that mean?  Why would one want it?  How do we accomplish it?  In my previous post, “I am Saved…Now what to do?” I listed some points in how to live a Christian life, what we should do as a church and how to overcome spiritual battles.  I think this list answers all three questions.  There may be more, but I think I got the meat of it.  Comments are welcome if I missed any.  I mentioned that I would go into more detail.  Today I will cover the first one.

  • First, you must be born again.  Believe in Jesus Christ and through that you will become a new creation.
