November is right around the corner and so are the elections. Scary, right?! But God tells us again and again there is no need to fear. Do not worry. He is in control. Even if we end up with someone in office we do not like or is a tyrant or is not qualified, God has a plan and we need not fear. Many do not have the freedoms we have here in the U.S. Let us be grateful for what we have while we still have it (and pray for those who don’t). We know that there will be tough times ahead, but we also know we have hope in Jesus and that one day He will return. But more than that we can have peace and joy now, no matter what the outcome or circumstances we face in the future.

God the Father: Who is He?
As we dive into what the Trinity is all about, we will look at each person of the Trinity, the Godhead. Who is God the Father? If you had a good father here on earth, God the Father is so much more. He created us, and He loves us. He knows what is best and will accomplish it. If your relationship with your earthly father was not great, you know there is a Father in heaven who loves and will never harm you. He is Almighty God who is powerful and strong, but yet gentle and kind. He is just and He is merciful. There is so much to Our Father in Heaven that is beyond our comprehension, that is indescribable. But one thing we do know is He loves us and wants an intimate relationship with us. So, who is God the Father?

When I first started this blog, I wrote some short posts about the Seven letters to the Churches from Jesus in Revelation. Today I thought I would go back to the letters and expound on it a bit. I believe that we are getting closer and closer to Jesus’ return, and it is more important than ever to pay attention to what Christ has to say here.

I saw a post on Facebook that started, “I am done with Christians…” I read something about hypocrisy but didn’t go any further. Part of me was offended. But I think part of me was worried about being convicted. Another part of me realized that the world will hate us because they hate Jesus Christ and they are offended by the gospel and don’t want to hear about sin and salvation. Another part of me realize that many claim to be Christian that are not and some of us are followers of Christ and often stumble, not acting the way we should or saying the things we should. One thing I think about lately when scrolling through all the posts on my feed, when was the last time someone (me included) has said something nice about another instead of bashing someone? If you have to think about it, it has been too long. As followers of Jesus, we need to be kind to others and show love to them. I wish that everyone would.
There is so much bitterness going on in the world today. We have a history of racism in this country as well as many others. It has been going on throughout the world probably since there were races. Our country is struggling with this. It has gotten tremendously better since several decades ago, but we still have work to do. And racism is not the only problem. Right now we see hatred on both sides toward and from most races. We see people judging entire people groups because of what a few have done. We see disrespect toward those who serve and try to make this country a better place. We see people looking down on others because of their situation and others taking advantage of it and the system. We see bitterness toward those who believe differently, whether it would be politically, religiously or what their opinions are about certain issues. What are we to do? What did Jesus have to say about this and what was His example? It’s pretty simple, really. Be kind, love others and treat each other right. One parable comes to mind that tells us how we are to treat others. Continue reading “Racisim”
