God has high regard for children. Throughout scripture He speaks of children often, that we are to love them, care for them and even be like them. He calls those who believe children of God. He sent His Son as a Child, to become the Savior of the world.
Mark 10:14-16
“Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them. One of the greatest promises God has given us is adoption to be children of God. For those of us who believe, He has accepted us to be part of His family and heirs of eternal life (more on this next time). He didn’t decide to adopt us because of our love for Him or all the great things that we have done, but because He loved us, because Christ died for us that we may be sons of God. I talked last time about being a sponsor for children and how missionaries go to a strange land and accept children as their own, sharing God’s love. How much more does God love us and accept us as His children. What an awesome thing!
