God has blessed me throughout my life; a good family, a wonderful wife, great friends, and so may experiences and blessings that give me joy in my heart. I am sure all of us have something to be grateful for in our lives. God also gives us special gifts through the Holy Spirit to help others and strengthen the church, giving glory to God. Using our gifts is a part of worship. You may not know what your spiritual gift is. My suggestion is to get involved in your church and serve. If one thing doesn’t work or doesn’t seem to fit, try another. God will lead you to the gifts He wants you to use when the time is right. I believe He may give us different gifts at different times to fulfill a need of a ministry He has for you. I have seen that in my life. When I was young, I tried helping with the youth group, then became a youth leader. That didn’t work out too well. Later on several other ministries came up and God gave me the gifts needed for my particular ministries. No matter what your gift is or if you know what it is, get involved with your church and serve. Let’s not be just a pew sitter but be active for God’s Kingdom. Continue reading “Great Gifts”

I AM’s…The Resurrection
The next “I AM” begins with the story of Lazarus, one of Jesus’ closest friends. Lazarus became very sick, but it was time Jesus showed His power and glory and He was going to do more than heal. (spoiler alert!) He was going to raise him from the dead! Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life.
Only Jesus
Who or what do we worship? Is there more than one way to get to heaven or to be with God? Can we have access directly with God or must we go through someone or something else or do certain things? There is no other way accept through Jesus. He is the only way. He is all we need to receive salvation. God’s Word is clear on this. It is my prayer that all of my friend, family and readers understand this. I pray that God gives me the understanding as I read (and write). I find that it is such a joy to learn about Him and I hope you will too. Continue reading “Only Jesus”
Confidence in Eternal Life
I was having a conversation the other day about someone we knew who had cancer. I mentioned that this person said that they were ready and knew where they were going. The reply was that we never know until the time comes. I was taken aback by that knowing what both of us were taught. I wish I had spoken up at the time to say what the gospel says about it, so i thought I would write about it here. I will have to pick it up with him again. After all, that is one of the most important questions to ask yourself. Do you know where you are going after this life? The Bible says, “yes!” Continue reading “Confidence in Eternal Life”
Anxious for Nothing
How do you handle stress? My workplace is about to close and it is the only place in town. That means almost everyone in this community will be affected; families, businesses, churches, employers and employees, After 15 years and not too far from retirement, we will have to sell our house, find a new job and move. My Dad is getting old and beginning to struggle with his health and mind. We are going to have to leave our friends behind and find a new church…once we find out where we will be living. There was a time when I would have been devastated by this news, but I feel at peace. Don’t get me wrong, I do feel stressed and some days more so than other days, but I also know God is in control; He has gotten me through tough situations before and I know that He will again. I have heard before somewhere that God sometimes calms the storm we are in, but other times He just helps us through it. I do not know what the future will bring, but we will be alright one way or another. All I can do is pray and leave it in God’s hands, search for jobs, wait and listen for God’s voice. We have our part to do; we can’t just sit back and expect God to hand us everything on a silver platter, but we can’t get wound up and stressed out or try to do everything on our own either. That is something I need to keep reminding myself. How do you handle stress? Continue reading “Anxious for Nothing”
