So we made the decision to accept the free gift that God has given us by believing in Jesus Christ who died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead. What next? How do we know we are actually saved? What changes will be in your life? We know that we are promised eternal life for all those who believe. What promises has God made for your life now? In the Beginning, God…
Creation vs. Evolution. Young Earth vs. old Earth. Big Bang vs. Devine Design. As a scientist (I have degrees in geology, anthropology and environmental science), I have often struggled (and still do at times) with some of these conflicts, but science often teaches us about God. Many things we learn in science are corroborated in the Bible. Also, we need to be careful with accepting theories as fact, as they often teach in our schools. But to me, there is no doubt that God is real and that He created all things. I have seen things happen in my life that can only be attributed to God. I loved the quote from a study by Charlie Dates that I borrowed for the title. In the beginning, God. As he says, these first four words of the Bible are so important. Everything is about God, since He created all things, including you and me.

Jesus had a few encounters with rich people. In this example, He puts the rich man to the test to reveal where his priorities lie. Our priority should be with God and His will, not our own. Is it a sin to be rich? I don’t think that is what Jesus is saying. But what we do with them may be. Who or what do you put your trust in? It is hard to let go. It is hard to live for Christ. But with God, all things are possible. No matter what we have done, no matter who we think we are, we can be saved because of what Christ has done. God can use us to do great things. There is nothing God can’t do and there is nobody He can’t save.

There has been a couple times now that I received a comment from someone claiming I do not understand the scriptures and that Jesus is not God and never claimed to be. I admit that I do not understand all the scriptures and by no means am I an expert, but one thing I do know and have no doubt is that Jesus is Lord. He came to this earth, God in the flesh, to save us from our sins. Jesus’ I AM statements along with His works show us that He is God. To not believe that Jesus is God, you would have to remove much of the New Testament (and The Old Testament, that points to the Messiah). I hope and pray that people would believe, that they would be saved and accept God’s grace through His blood, through His death and resurrection. Continue reading “I AMs…Before Abraham was, I AM.”
We have a Big God
As I look outside my window this morning, I see the wonders of God. Snow covered hills, trees, flowers, a river, mountains and clouds and a big blue sky. The river is teaming with life. We often see swans and geese and ducks, and the occasional otter. Quite often a bald eagle will swoop past us or perch in the trees. Deer frequent the paths in our yard. Squirrels play in the trees.
God created it all. In harmony. And then there are the heavenly bodies. A full moon on a clear night reflecting off the water of the river. 
A rainbow after a rain. The sun and the stars. And then there is the fascinating and unusual phenomena that occurs. Eclipses, blood moons. Aurora. Thunder and Lightning. Sunrises and sunsets. And the still, soft wind. God is in it all. He created it . The universe and everything in it. He created you and me. And he loves His creation.
