God’s Promise: Unconditional Love

In this series, I hope to remind everyone of God’s promises.  It is something I need to remind myself from time to time.  God always keeps His promises and what He says is always true.  It is something we should always aspire to do.  As Jesus said, “let your yes be yes, and your no, no.”

Today, we will discuss God’s unconditional love.  He tells us that He will always love us.  Our Father demonstrated that by sending His only Son to this earth to die for us.  Jesus gave His life freely so that we may live.  There is no greater love than that. Signs of the Times

sign

In my fifth post on the return of Jesus Christ, let us go through some of the signs to look for.  The Bible tells us to watch and be ready, so let’s explore what to watch for.  There are many authors and people with their ideas of today’s world events and how they tie in to the signs talked about in God’s Word.  With the Super Blue Blood Moon occurred this morning, I am sure they will be talking about that.  While this is intriguing, I am going to stick with scripture as far as things to look for.  Jesus’ tells us that it is not for us to know the hour but to watch, but we can know when the time is near and I believe we are now in that time. The Day of the Lord

With all the things going on the world and this country, I think it is important we see what God’s word says about the last days.  But, in this series, I want to focus more on Jesus’ return and how we should be preparing for it.  There is so much out there on  the signs of the end times and how today’s events point to it.  There are a lot of theories and it takes a lot of time to weed through them and discern what may be true.  Most of it is someone’s opinions that may make sense, but, do we really know?  In this series I will go into a little of that (less on today’s daily events and more on what God’s word says), but you can read Revelation about the seals, trumpets and bowls, Matthew 24, Daniel (especially chapters 9 and 12), Joel, Zechariah, Ezekiel about the signs of things to come as we draw nearer to the end times and the Day of the Lord.  This is a time that can be both scary and exciting and I believe it is getting close.  I am not sure exactly what direction to go, but I pray the Lord will lead me in this and it will be clear to you and it will be a blessing.

What is the Day of the Lord?  What can we expect?  What should we be doing?  What should we look for?  As we study God’s word we can answer these questions and learn together. Continue reading “The Day of the Lord”

The World, Idols, and Materialism

Three of the things God despises are worldliness, idolatry and materialism and I think these go hand in hand and are almost synonymous.  God wants your complete and total commitment to Him.  He does not want to share loyalties with anyone or anything else.  He should be the one and only God in our life.  We should serve Him and Him alone. The Armor of God

The third in our series on how to live as a believer once we are saved is:

Put on the full armor of God; Submit to God and resist the devil.

What does it mean to ‘put on the armor of God?’ and how do we do that?  Spiritual battles are a part of a believer’s life.  Not only do we have the battles within, the struggles between wanting to do what is right and desiring to do the things of this world contrary to the will of God, we also have an enemy who desires that we fail and not get close to God, and he wants to keep others from coming to God.  He will use those desires and your weaknesses to come after you.  But, we can resist him and we have the weapons to do it.
