The Angel of the Lord…The Lamb of God

Jesus reveals Himself throughout the Bible…even in the Old Testament.  The Old Testament points us to Christ.  Throughout the OT, God shows that we are sinners.  He also shows that He loves us and provides a sacrifice for our sins, a way to eternal life.  He shows us that He desires our heart.  He is a God of mercy and love.  The covenant He made with Abraham goes far beyond His Chosen People, the Israelites.  He will bless all the nations through His Son, who would be the Lamb of sacrifice for us. Our Cornerstone

In the last post we talked about the foundation of the church.  Christ is and always will be that foundation.  If a church does not center on Christ, if it does not teach scripture, it is a false church.  Jesus should be the center of the church and the center of our lives.  Our strength is in Him.  Our salvation is through Him. What is Your Foundation?

Sorry for no posts for a while, but I was on a mission trip in Haiti and we had no internet.  What a blessing!  One of the  things we did was lay the foundation for a new church building.  While I was out there pouring cement, a five gallon bucket at a time, so many parallels came to mind about laying a foundation for the church, on stony ground, with thorn bushes here and there, the hot sun beating on us, but God is in control and Christ is our true foundation, the chief cornerstone.  The church service we had was wonderful, 41 people and 25 of them children.  Although it was in Creole, we had one universal language and that was our love and faith in Jesus Christ.  The people here were very passionate in their worship and with things like voodoo in this land, their faith (as well as spiritual battles) is very real. Let the Children Come to Me

God has high regard for children.  Throughout scripture He speaks of children often, that we are to love them, care for them and even be like them.  He calls those who believe children of God.  He sent His Son as a Child, to become the Savior of the world.

Mark 10:14-16

“Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.  Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.”  And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them. Guilt and Forgiveness

In some ways guilt and forgiveness go hand in hand, but in other ways they are completely opposite.  Without guilt there is no need for forgiveness.  Forgiveness is more about the forgiver showing mercy.  We can all receive forgiveness if we just believe and trust in Jesus Christ…and we all need it.  In my last post, we talked about how we should forgive, knowing that we have been forgiven too.  Jesus not only took our sins away, but He also took away our guilt.  Knowing this, we should e able to not only forgive others, but also forgive ourselves.
