What is our Assurance? Part 1

gates to heaven or hell

A question that often comes up and there is much debate is “do we have assurance of eternal life?” Or “can we lose our salvation once we have obtained it?”  Or is it ‘once saved always saved?’ I have my opinion, but I am going to withhold it for now and just give you some scriptures that talk about this very subject.  I will let you read these and let you decide for yourself.  As you read, I suggest that you pray and ask God to reveal the truth and speak to you through these scripture before reading.  Ask Him to remove any bias or preconceptions and read as though this is the first time you have read or heard of this subject.  Then, read the context of each of these (read part 1 and part 2 before making any conclusions).  Read the chapter before and after.  Ask yourself, who is the author speaking to?  What is his intent?  Is he speaking about a certain group of people?  Is he speaking literally or hypothetically?  After doing all that, pray again.  Then, make a conclusion.  Please write a comment.  I would like to see what you think. Law and Grace

ten-commandments-187967_1280God’s Law is perfect. What does it mean for us?  How does grace fit in?  How does the law fit in with grace?  What is grace?  Grace is unmerited favor; it is a gift from God.  Nothing we cannot earn our way into heaven.  To follow the law to earn our way to heaven, we must follow the whole law, every bit of it, all of it, every day. What Crown will We Receive?

There will be a day when we will be at Jesus feet.  Some will see Him at the Great White throne judgment, and those of us who follow Him will see Him at the Bema seat.  Those who decide to not follow Him will be judged by what they did in their life to determine where they will go.  The Great White Throne is where He will judge the nations on whether they are worthy to enter into heaven.  Unfortunately, none of us are good enough to enter heaven on our own merit. Christ in Me

gal520-cross-flower

My verse for today: Galatians 2:20 – “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me, and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. ”

Many things in life I am ashamed of and regret, but thankfully that was my old self and Christ died on the cross so that I am forgiven of those things and when I decided to follow Him, He gave me the Holy Spirit to convict me and change me and I am a new person, living for Him with new desires. He has given me joy and peace and I know that although I mess up at times, He is there to lift me up so that I can continue to do His work…or I should say that He does His work in me and through me. Without Him I can do nothing. But, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13). It is not I who does good things it is Jesus and He deserves all the glory.
