Love and the Commandments

God is gracious and loves His children.  Jesus came to save the world and fulfill the law.  He gave us a new covenant, that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ.  The  Lord has come to save us, Jew and Gentile alike.  The law was brought to us to show us that we could never be righteous enough to obtain salvation on our own.  We should not ignore God’s commandments, though.  God’s commands are good and His ways are best for our lives.  As one who is born again, a person follows the commandments of God and live by the Spirit because we love Him.  We obey God not to gain salvation, but because of it.

Jesus taught us that it is not about the act of obedience, but the heart and desire to obey our Lord. The teachers of the law asked Jesus about God’s commandments.  They were always focusing on the doing, but Jesus taught people to take it a step further and to do things out of love. Knowing We are Saved

crown-love-bible

Today’s scripture goes along with the previous couple blog posts. They describe what Jesus did for us so that we can be saved and how to be saved. 1 John describes how we know we are saved. We are not saved by these things, it is evidence that we are saved. Continue reading “Knowing We are Saved”

God Loves You!

047

Today I want to share with you how much God loves you. He changed my life so much and filled my heart with joy. He never gave up on me and He won’t give up on you. His desire is that all will be saved. God the Father sent His one and only Son, Jesus who is God, came to this earth to save us by taking the sins of the world on His shoulders and gave His life by dying on the cross, to be raised from the dead on the third day to sit on the right hand of God the Father.

 John 3:16-21

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the Light and does not come to the Light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done by God.”

We are saved by grace (a gift of God through His Son) through faith in Jesus Christ. Thank you Jesus.

Ephesus – The Loveless Church

I would like to share what Jesus writes the 7 churches in Asia. I believe that each of the Christian churches of today are represented by one or more of these. The first is known as the loveless church, the church of Ephesus. Does any of this sound familiar? What can we do to learn from the praises and criticisms of each of the letters? Let us take heed to His warnings.

Revelation 2:1-7

“To the angel of the church of Ephesus write,

‘These things says He who holds the seven stars in His right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands: “I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars; and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name’s sake and have not become weary. Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place — unless you repent. But this you have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.”‘

Let us not be too busy with doing good works and put aside our fellowship with God. Let us always love others and stand up for what is right. Let us know the Word and not follow any false teachings and only preach and practice the truth and not leave any out or add to it. At the end of Revelation, Jesus give a harsh warning against this. Many churches nowadays are getting sucked in to following what the world says is true in contrast to what God says. There is much conflict over some of the issues that morality is being twisted and people are being offended (abortion and homosexuality are two of the big ones). God’s word is very clear. Love of God is shown best by obeying Him. Love of God is also shown by loving others. Let us always show love.
