Revelation: Who is God?

“Holy, holy, holy,

Lord God Almighty,

Who was and is and is to come!”…

“You are worthy, O Lord,

To receive glory and honor and power;

For You created all things,

And by Your will they exist and were created.”  Revelation 4:8, 11

Who is God?  What is His character and attributes?  There are scriptures throughout the Bible that describe Him and who He is.  For this post, I will use the Book of Revelation to try to share who God is.  He is the great, almighty God who is worthy to receive all of our blessings and worship.  He has given us everything.  He created us and He loves us.

Believers Need Believers

In this world, there is so much that opposes us.  As believers, we need to surround ourselves with other godly people and lift each other up.  Of course, we need to spend time with those that do not believe and share our faith, but we must be united as a church and strengthen one another and love one another.

The Role of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is mentioned throughout the Bible.  He is described in Genesis hovering over the waters when the earth was first formed.  He filled the Kings and judges to give them strength and wisdom, and came upon Jesus at the start of His ministry.  He indwells those who follow Christ and we are baptized by the Holy Spirit and given spiritual gifts by Him.  He prays for us, guides us and gives us fruit to grow and edify others. God, Our Loving Father

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.  What does that mean?  And who is our Father?  He is our loving God and Father, Who sent His One and Only Son to die for us so that our sins may be forgiven.  He is the creator of all, the ruler of all and He loves each one of us more than any earthly father could.  He is the Almighty, All-powerful, All-knowing, ever-present, just and righteous, loving God and Father, Who deserves all of our worship.  He deserves our all. Jesus: Lord, Savior, Son of God? Yes!

John 1:1-5

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

  John 1:14

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

  Revelation 19:11-16

Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:

KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. Continue reading “Jesus: Lord, Savior, Son of God? Yes!”
