Today we celebrate the most important day in history: Resurrection Sunday. The day Jesus Christ rose from the dead after dying for your sins and mine, after paying the full penalty of our sins, all of them, for everyone. All we need to do is accept that free gift of grace and mercy, trust in Jesus, and believe that this is true.

It’s Harvest Time
Jesus often used farming analogies to relate to the people around Him. The harvest is an important time. As He talks to the disciples about being fishers of men and sowing and reaping, they didn’t always understand but the message sunk in eventually. Sometimes he clearly explained his parables as he did to the apostles about the parable of the good soil. In this post we discuss what Jesus said after His encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well. It’s time for the harvest.

The type of soil we use for our gardens and crops can really make a difference. The right soils can produce a beautiful garden, good crops and abundant fruit. Other soils, not so much. We used to live in Nevada. It was hard to get things to grow there (except sagebrush and tumbleweeds and nasty things called “goatheads which have spikes that will go through a bicycle tire and don’t feel good on the feet). Other places we have been have lush green plants because they have that dark organic soil full of nutrients. How we hear and understand (and accept or not) God’s word is kind of like that, as Jesus explains in this parable.
