When God was asked His name, He said, “Yahweh.” What does that mean? Most Bibles translate as “I am What I Am.” It is said that a more literal translation is “I Will Be Who I Will Be.” Kind of cryptic, huh? By what I have read, this is saying that He is the self-existent one. He is the eternal God and not a created being, which separate Him from all other gods. He always was and always will be. Names of God: Elohim
Did you know the Bible uses several names for God? In the Hebrew text, God is called different names that are all translated “God” or “LORD.” I do not know Hebrew, but we will learn the different names of God and their meanings together. And, “Lord give me patience and give it to me now!” Of course that is jokingly, but we don’t like to go through the trials and challenges that will lead to patient. We are (or at least I am) impatient people. We’ve heard that we live in a microwave society. We are just too uptight. We don’t like to wait. I imagine maybe this is less so in other countries? Anyways, then there is longsuffering. What is the difference? They seem to be interchangeable.
