God of Salvation: Yeshua

In the Old Testament, God is often referred to as The God of my Salvation. In the New Testament, we learn of God coming in the flesh as Yeshua, in Greek, Ieosous, or as we know His name in English, Jesus, the Savior of the world, the Son of God.

2 Samuel 22:1-4

Then David spoke to the LORD[Yahweh]the words of this song, on the day when the LORD [Yahweh] had delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. And he said: “The LORD [Yahweh]is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; the God [Elohe] of my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge; my Savior [Yesha], you save me from violence. I will call upon the LORD[Yahweh], who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.

Over and over again, David was in a tight situation and God saved Hime from it. I think of how many times He saved me from tough situations, not necessarily from an evil king trying to kill me, but from gangs in Haiti on mission trips, or from the mess I got myself into, or protecting me from bad decisions, or financial struggles, or whatever, and probably from situations I am not even aware of, or has lead me through them. Most of all, He saved me from my sins, by sending His Son, Jesus, whose name literally means Salvation.

Matthew 1:18-25

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS [Iesous], for He will save His people from their sins.”

So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: “BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD, AND BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL,” which is translated, “God with us.”

Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name JESUS[Iesous].

Jesus, the Son of God, who created all things, left His throne in heaven to dwell among us (Immanuel, “God with Us”) and be a sacrifice to pay for our sins. He fulfilled His name. He is the Salvation of the world. As He said in John 3:16, whoever believes in Him will be saved. He is the narrow road, the Light of the world, the God of Salvation.

Philippians 2:5-11

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus [Ieosous], who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus [Ieosous]every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus [Ieosous]Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

As Jesus humbled Himself to save us, we ought to humble ourselves and worship Him. His very name shows us how much He loves us and how much we should be grateful to King Jesus. One day He will return and everyone will bow down to Him. One day we will see Him in all His glory. Many will rejoice, and many will regret their decision not to follow Him. I am so grateful that God brought me to Him and I look forward to that day. He is my Rock and my Salvation. He is my Lord and my God.

2 Samuel 22:47

The LORD [Yahweh] lives! Blessed be my Rock! Let God be exalted, the Rock of my salvation [Yesha]!

Psalms 18:2-3

The LORD [Yahweh] is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God [El], my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation [yesha], my stronghold. I will call upon the LORD [Yahweh], who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.

God is our salvation. And the only way to God the Father is through His Son, Jeus, Yeshua. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. The path to salvation is narrow and is only through Him. There is no other way. He will never leave us or forsake us, as He has promised. He has redeemed us. By His blood and sacrifice we are saved if we believe. It is by His work, not our own. Just as God lead the Israelites across the waters of the Red Sea and the Jordan River to their promised land, so will He lead us.

Isaiah 43:1-3

But now, thus says the LORD [Yahweh], who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the LORD [Yahweh] your God [Elohika], the Holy One of Israel, your Savior [Yasha]; I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place.

He guides through the tough times, He protects us as he did Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego in the fiery furnace. Most of all Jesus paid the ransom for our sins, through His sacrifice on the cross. And one day He will return as He promised and He will give us blessings beyond measure.

Isaiah 62:11-12

Indeed the LORD [Yahweh] has proclaimed to the end of the world: “Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Surely your salvation [Yisik, Yesha] is coming; behold, His reward is with Him, and His work before Him.’ ” And they shall call them The Holy People, The Redeemed of the LORD [Yahweh]; and you shall be called Sought Out, A City Not Forsaken.

As Isaiah said to Israel, their salvation is coming and He will bring blessing and reward to them and to all believers. Their salvation came but most did not recognize Him, but many did. His very name is Salvation. Jesus. Yeshua. Iesous. He is the Christ, the Messiah. The Son of the Living God. And He said He will come again, bringing a reward to those who believe and trust in Him. He offers the Tree of Life as well as crowns for what we have done on this earth (See What Crown will We Receive?) And the greatest gift that He has given us is Himself

Revelation 22:12-21

“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”

Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.

“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”

And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely. For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
