As you spend time with God and as you worship Him, it is good to look through the Psalms and remember what a great God He is. Take time each day to pray and read some of these (maybe even out loud) to give God praise as your act of worship. As we discussed in the previous post, this is not the only way to worship God. Also as we discussed, worship is more than singing in church. It is your daily devotion to Him. Let us start each day with an attitude of worship to the God who loves us beyond measure and has given us so much to be thankful for.
Psalms 103:1-5
Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
I think back to how many times the Lord has provided for me and helped me through my struggles. I’ve seen Him multiply food when we thought we would run out. I’ve seen people be healed. Those are things I don’t want to forget, and remember Who it is that has done that for me. And perhaps the biggest miracle I have witnessed is God taking a selfish pothead who was on a road to destruction, and bring him to faith in Jesus Christ and turning his life around. Jesus died on the cross so that you and I may be saved. He is a God of miracles, a God who provides, a God who protects, a God who always keeps His promises, a God who saves us from death and destruction. He is a God who loves us beyond measure.

Romans 8:35, 37-39
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? …Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Let us always trust in the Lord for all He has done. Let us worship Him through our words, our thoughts, our actions. Let us always be thankful and may we always depend on Him, no matter what situation we are in. He is trustworthy.
Psalms 118:1,9
Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever… It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.
Psalms 63:1-4
O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory. Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You. Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.

What a picture that paints. Seek Him as a thirsty, dying man in the desert seeks for water; that is how we should seek the Lord. Because of His goodness, we should proclaim His glory. We should shout from the mountaintops. We should be more excited to worship God and thank Him for all that He has done than anything else. We can shout and cheer at sports events and concerts, why can’t we do it for God and more so? I have been to churches in Haiti. They are that way! Why are we so subdued during our worship services? Why am I ?
Psalms 100:1-5
Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands! Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know that the LORD, He is God; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.
God is so good. He created all things. He is the Almighty. He has blessed each of us in so many ways. He loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for us. As it says in Romans, While we were sinners, Christ died for us. God wants a relationship with each one of us. He wants to give us eternal life to be with Him.

Psalms 103:11-22
For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a father pities his children, so the LORD pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust. As for man, his days are like grass; as a flower of the field, so he flourishes. For the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more.
But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children’s children, to such as keep His covenant, and to those who remember His commandments to do them. The LORD has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all.
Bless the LORD, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word. Bless the LORD, all you His hosts, you ministers of His, who do His pleasure. Bless the LORD, all His works, in all places of His dominion. Bless the LORD, O my soul!
Bless the Lord for He is good. He is God. He is our creator, our Savior, our Redeemer. I think it would be good to take time out every now and then to list all the things He has done for us and who He is to us. As we think of these things, we would have more gratitude and awe for Him.
Psalms 19:14
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer.
Psalms 19:1
The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.
Such wonderful reminders. He is such a good, good Father who loves us so much! I’ve recently started reading through the Psalms in the evenings and it’s so refreshing and peaceful to be filled with all His promises.
