Pray for Other Believers

prayer-at-cross

In the New Testament, there are many beautiful prayers that I try to pray for my family, friends and other believers, my brothers and sisters in Christ.  This is one of my favorite.  Paul prays to encourage the believers in Ephesus, to gain knowledge of the scriptures, to know of the hope they have in Jesus Christ and of His power.  I try to personalize this to make it my own as I pray for others.  So often our prayers are about “what can I get” or physical needs, which are fine, but we should go deeper.  Prayer for those around us to be closer with God, to really know what the scriptures say that God’s words would help us grow spiritually and to always seek Him, knowing how powerful and awesome our God is, yet loves each one of us so much that Jesus came and took the sins of the world on His shoulders and died on the cross for you and me, paying the penalty of our sins so that we can be saved and spend eternity with Him.  What a great and wonderful God we have that yearns for us to seek Him!

Ephesians 1:15-21

Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.

I lived in the far corner of Northeastern Washington with my beautiful wife, but now live in Wisconsin while I look for work. God has blessed me tremendously and so thankful for His grace and the people He has put in my life and His work in and around me.
