As we have been discussing for some time now, our God has many names. Not many gods as many religions seem to think, but many names that describe His character. It is so hard to describe God. He is so big and beyond our comprehension. Yet He seeks a relationship with us. He desires our love. He loves us so much He sent His only Son to pay for our sins. He is the God of love and mercy and desires nothing more that everyone would come to Him and be saved, but He is also a just God. His judgment is sure. There will be a day when each person will be judged by their works to determine where they will spend eternity. But all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Or, those of us who believe and trust in Jesus Christ, who are sealed by the Holy Spirt, will be judged for our rewards in heaven. Sometimes judgment may come sooner, as He has done to His own people, and to those who oppress His people or others. He is the Lord of Hosts (also called the Lord of Sabaoth), the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He is supreme over the world, the universe, all creatures, all leaders, and His angels. One day Jesus will return with His angels. That will be a glorious day!
Isaiah 47:4
As for our Redeemer [Gaol], the LORD of hosts [Yahweh Sabaoth] is His name, The Holy One [Qadosh] of Israel.
Our God, our Redeemer, is the Lord of Hosts. He is in control. As it says in Philippians 2 about Jesus Christ, He is above all names. He is ruler of all the angels in heaven and of all the kings and leaders on this earth.
Colossians 1:15-17
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.
Jesus is the Son of God. He was there for creation. He was there when man was created in His image. “Let Us create man in Our image.” He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. No one comes to the Father except through Him. He is the Way. The only Way.
Matthew 26:63-64
But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him, “I put You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!” Jesus said to him, “It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

Revelation 19:11-16
Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
One day He will come back to judge the earth. He will defend those who cannot defend themselves. We will strengthen the weak and righteous. Personally, I think that time is near, just around the corner. We should be prepared and we should trust in Him, and we should live in a way that honors Him.
James 5:1-8
Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you! Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have heaped up treasure in the last days. Indeed the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth. You have lived on the earth in pleasure and luxury; you have fattened your hearts as in a day of slaughter. You have condemned, you have murdered the just; he does not resist you. Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.
God warned Israel many times to turn away from wickedness and come back to Him. Sometimes they repented and the Lord blessed them. Sometimes they abandoned Him and the Lord disciplined them. It is good to heed the warnings of the Lord, not only Israel but other nations as well. Not only in the days of the prophets, but this day and age as well. God will always warn the wicked to get right with God and do good, and He always offers hope as we turn to Him.
Isaiah 1:16-27
“Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, rebuke the oppressor; defend the fatherless, plead for the widow.
“Come now, and let us reason together,” says the LORD [Yahweh], “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword”; for the mouth of the LORD [Yahweh]has spoken.
How the faithful city has become a harlot! It was full of justice; righteousness lodged in it, but now murderers. Your silver has become dross, your wine mixed with water. Your princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves; everyone loves bribes, and follows after rewards. They do not defend the fatherless, nor does the cause of the widow come before them.
Therefore the Lord says, The LORD of hosts [Adowyn Yahweh Sabaowt], the Mighty One of Israel [Abir Israel], “Ah, I will rid Myself of My adversaries, and take vengeance on My enemies. I will turn My hand against you, and thoroughly purge away your dross, and take away all your alloy. I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning. Afterward you shall be called the city of righteousness, the faithful city.” Zion shall be redeemed with justice, and her penitents with righteousness.

God is in control. When the Israelites rebelled, he disciplined them. Often He used armies of their enemies. Sometimes He sent a famine upon the land. But He always brought them back. His desire was always to reconcile with His people. He would strengthen them, and He would protect them. When Pharoh in Egypt oppressed them, He sent plagues. When armies attacked Israel, when they try to wipe them out, God would give them the strength to overcome them. Sometimes He would even send His angels to protect them. That is what the Lord of hosts does.
2 Kings 6:8-17
Now the king of Syria was making war against Israel; and he consulted with his servants, saying, “My camp will be in such and such a place.” And the man of God sent to the king of Israel, saying, “Beware that you do not pass this place, for the Syrians are coming down there.” Then the king of Israel sent someone to the place of which the man of God had told him. Thus he warned him, and he was watchful there, not just once or twice.
Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was greatly troubled by this thing; and he called his servants and said to them, “Will you not show me which of us is for the king of Israel?” And one of his servants said, “None, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom.”
So he said, “Go and see where he is, that I may send and get him.” And it was told him, saying, “Surely he is in Dothan.”
Therefore he sent horses and chariots and a great army there, and they came by night and surrounded the city. And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?”
So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, and said, “LORD [Yahweh], I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the LORD [Yahweh] opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
Elisha was not afraid when surrounded by an army because He knew that God would protect him and His army was greater than theirs. He is always greater than anything this world has to offer. And He loves us more than anyone in this world. He sent His own Son to save us. Jesus gave His life for us. He had the power to save Himself but He chose to die on the cross. He chose to bear our sins. For us. For you. For me. For all of us if we would believe and trust in Him.
John 19:10-11
Then Pilate said to Him, “Are You not speaking to me? Do You not know that I have power to crucify You, and power to release You?” Jesus answered, “You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above. Therefore the one who delivered Me to you has the greater sin.”
Jesus had the power to save His live or to give it freely. He is the Lord of Hosts. He could have brought down His hosts, His angels to save Him from the cross and show everyone who He really was. But instead He chose to take our sins to the cross. To be a sacrifice to pay for our sins so that we may live. What an awesome God we have!

Matthew 26:51-54
And suddenly, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. But Jesus said to him, “Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?”
He is the Lord of Hosts. He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. He is our Refuge and Strength. He is our Redeemer.
Psalms 46:1-11
God [Elohim] is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah
There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God [Elohim], the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High [Elyown]. God [Elohim]is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God [Elohim]shall help her, just at the break of dawn. The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted. The LORD of hosts [Yahweh Sabaowt]is with us; the God [Elohe] of Jacob is our refuge. Selah
Come, behold the works of the LORD [Yahweh], who has made desolations in the earth. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire.
Be still, and know that I am God [Elohim]; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! The LORD of hosts [Yahweh Sabaowt]is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah
