Our God, The Holy One

Our God is “The Holy One”, “Qadosh.” He is worthy to be worshipped and praised. All honor should go to Him. He is the prefect, righteous creator of this earth, of everything in it, of the universe and everything in it. Our devotion should be completely to Him. And He sent His One and Only Son, Jesus Christ, the Holy One, God the Son, who is perfect and sinless, to pay the price for our sins and die in our place, so that if we accept that gift and surrender to Him we may live and have eternal life with Him. What an awesome God we serve!

Psalms 71:17-24

O God [Elohim], You have taught me from my youth; and to this day I declare Your wondrous works. Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God[Elohim], do not forsake me, until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come. Also Your righteousness, O God, is very high, You who have done great things; O God[Elohim], who is like You? You, who have shown me great and severe troubles, shall revive me again, and bring me up again from the depths of the earth. You shall increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side. Also with the lute I will praise You—and Your faithfulness, O my God [Elohay]! To You I will sing with the harp, O Holy One [Qadowosh]of Israel. My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You, and my soul, which You have redeemed. My tongue also shall talk of Your righteousness all the day long; for they are confounded, for they are brought to shame who seek my hurt.

David was a man after God’s own heart. He realized what a great an awesome God He serves. He worshipped Him in times of triumph and times of despair. He knew that God is faithful in all circumstances, even during those times when everyone was out to hurt him, even when he totally messed up and sinned against God and others, He knew that God is faithful and just, and he would redeem him and He would give him strength when he was weak, as He does to each of us.

Isaiah 40:21-31

Have you not known? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. He brings the princes to nothing; He makes the judges of the earth useless. Scarcely shall they be planted, scarcely shall they be sown, scarcely shall their stock take root in the earth, when He will also blow on them, and they will wither, and the whirlwind will take them away like stubble. “To whom then will you liken Me, or to whom shall I be equal?” says the Holy One [Qadowosh]. Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these things, who brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name, by the greatness of His might and the strength of His power; not one is missing. Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel: “My way is hidden from the LORD[Yahweh], and my just claim is passed over by my God [Elohay]“?

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God [Elohe Olam], the LORD,[Yahweh]the Creator [Bowre]of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the LORD [Yahweh]shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

The Lord God, The Holy One, is the Creator of all the Earth. He is all powerful and all knowing. He knows what is best and though we don’t often understand His ways and it doesn’t seem like He is there, He is. When things are hard, He is there. Sometimes He protects us from things, other times He guides us through them. He will give us strength when we are weak. Just like He did with the Israelites, He allowed them to go through troubles because of their disobedience (but, as we read in Job or in the life of David before he became king, just because someone is struggling or going through hardship it is not always because of disobedience, sometimes it is the cost of this fallen world and doing what is right). But He always gets them through it, and He is there to redeem them.

Isaiah 48:12-18

“Listen to Me, O Jacob, and Israel, My called: I am He, I am the First, I am also the Last. Indeed My hand has laid the foundation of the earth, and My right hand has stretched out the heavens; when I call to them, they stand up together. “All of you, assemble yourselves, and hear! Who among them has declared these things? The LORD [Yahweh]loves him; He shall do His pleasure on Babylon, and His arm shall be against the Chaldeans. I, even I, have spoken; yes, I have called him, I have brought him, and his way will prosper.

“Come near to Me, hear this: I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, I was there. And now the Lord GOD [Adonai Yahweh] and His Spirit have sent Me.” Thus says the LORD [Yahweh], your Redeemer, The Holy One [Qadowos]of Israel: “I am the LORD your God [Yahweh Eloheka], who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way you should go. Oh, that you had heeded My commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

He redeemed them from the Babylonians and Persians, and He redeemed all of us through His Son, which He called the Holy One, Jesus Christ, who came into this world to dwell among us, to pay for our sins and to die so that we can live. Jesus is Lord, He is our Redeemer, and He is the Holy One.

Luke 1:26-35

Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.

Jesus came into the world, not just to redeem Israel, and not in the way that they thought. He came to redeem all who believe and trust in Him. He came to redeem us from our sins and to free us from our bondage of sin, giving us eternal life with Him in heaven.

Isaiah 47:4

As for our Redeemer, the LORD [Yahweh] of hosts is His name, The Holy One [Qadowos] of Israel.

It is through a relationship with Jesus that we are redeemed. We are saved by His grace, not by our own doing, but because Jesus is who He is, and He took the sins of the world to the cross and paid for them through His death. And He conquered death by being raised from the dead, the Son of God, who sits at the right Hand of God the Father. He did this for all of us that we may be saved. Do you know Him?

Isaiah 48:12-18

The fear of the LORD [Yahweh] is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One [Qadosim] is understanding.

I lived in the far corner of Northeastern Washington with my beautiful wife for 16 years, but now live in my home state of Wisconsin. God has blessed me tremendously and I am so thankful for His grace, and the people He has put in my life, and for His work in and around me.
